Can we have the assurance that the Lord will not forsake His Children whom He called? Yes, we can! From where you may ask? From Scripture alone.
As you may know, the devil may use our feelings to trick us. The devil may also use Scripture to trick us. However, with the correct interpretation of Scripture (with God’s Grace through the Holy Spirit), the Scripture can be used to defend ourselves against the devil. This is what our Lord did when He was tempted in the wilderness (Matthew 4:6-7, on how the devil tempted our Lord with Psalm 91:12, and how our Lord used Deuteronomy 6:16 to defend).
Let’s consider John 10:27-28 – “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”. The Lord is very clear here that no man can pluck His Sheep out of His hand, including ourselves. How blessed are we to know that our Lord, who has the Power to do anything (Jeremiah 32:17), is so gracious to His Children, to this extent!
Of course, God’s Children will respond (will be explained in a future article), so if we are simply leaning on this assurance and having the mindset that it is all right to continue in sin, then we need to deeply reflect on whether this will please God.
So, after learning all these, are you assured that if you are truly seeking the Lord, you can now have assurance? If no, pray to the Lord such that He will grant you this assurance that we all need.
Ending off with these verses from 1 Peter 1:3-5 – “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”.
